Former cricketer Mohammad Yousaf announced on Sunday that he has resigned from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) selection committee after approximately six months in the role, citing "personal reasons."
In his statement, Yousaf expressed pride in his contributions to the development of the national team. He conveyed his best wishes to the players, expressing confidence in their abilities and potential.

"I am resigning as a selector for the Pakistan cricket team for personal reasons. It has been a tremendous privilege to serve this amazing team, and I take pride in having contributed to the growth and success of Pakistan Cricket.
"I have great confidence in the talent and determination of our players, and I wish them all the best as they pursue excellence," he posted on X.

In response to Yousuf's resignation, the PCB confirmed that the former cricket star made this decision to focus on other important responsibilities within the board.
"The PCB sincerely thanks Mohammad Yousuf for his invaluable contributions during his time as a selection committee member. He will remain a vital part of the PCB, leveraging his extensive knowledge and experience as the batting coach at the High Performance Centre," a spokesperson stated.
Additionally, Yousuf served as the head coach for the Pakistan U19 team, which secured third place in the ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup 2024 held in South Africa.
Yousuf joined the Pakistan team’s selection committee in March of this year.

On March 24, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi unveiled a new national selection committee consisting of seven members, emphasizing that there would be no chairman and each member would hold equal authority.
This restructuring followed the disappointing performance of the Pakistan cricket team, which faced early elimination from the T20 World Cup 2024. In response, the PCB made significant changes to the management team, dismissing former fast bowler Wahab Riaz and ex-all-rounder Abdul Razzaq from the selection committee. However, they chose to retain Mohammad Yousuf, Asad Shafiq, and Bilal Afzal.
Wahab was part of the men’s selection committee, while Razzaq contributed to both men's and women's selection panels. Additionally, Riaz was relieved of his duties as the senior team manager, along with team manager Rana Mansoor, due to disciplinary issues observed during the last three tours.
Naqvi expressed his confidence in the players, stating on social media, “I have immense faith in the talent and spirit of our players. I wish our team all the best as they continue to strive for greatness.”
